Assistant Professor, Science Fiction and/or Fantasy Lit

The George Mason University Department of English invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in 20th- and 21st-century Science Fiction and/or Fantasy Literature. We especially welcome applications from candidates whose work foregrounds questions of identity, power, and culture. Area of focus may include US, UK, and/or Anglophone literature, and we are also particularly interested in work that takes transnational, comparative, or global approaches. The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 load of undergraduate and graduate courses. The English department is home to vibrant concentrations in literature and cultural studies – including world literature and new media – and a highly-ranked BFA and MFA creative writing program. We coordinate closely with George Mason’s doctoral Program in Cultural Studies.

Ph.D. in literature with evidence of completion by August 2019
