The IAFA sometimes offers limited financial assistance.
We have two funding categories:
- Some financial assistance, granted on a competitive basis, may be available to those who are ineligible to receive funding from their institution and who are presenting papers. If you are not receiving funding from your institution and could use some assistance, and if you would like your proposal to be considered, please self-identify on the submissions page.
- The IAFA is committed to maintaining a vibrant international community of scholars and artists devoted to the fantastic. In this spirit, the IAFA periodically offers limited financial assistance to international scholars and artists who otherwise could not attend the ICFA. Funds are awarded to attendees whom the Board feels would enrich the intellectual atmosphere of the conference. These funds are available only in exceptional circumstances, are subject to Board approval, and are not available every year. IAFA members may request financial assistance on behalf of an international scholar or artist whom they feel would enrich the ICFA for all attendees. Request letters should be sent directly to the President (firstname.lastname@example.org). The letter should explain why the potential attendee fits the criteria outlined above.
